Another strong day on court at Squash Tigers NJ, as the Spring Forward Rehearsal Tournament delivered exactly what it is designed to do: meaningful match play, competitive reps, and visible progress across every level.
For those newer to the program, our Rehearsal Tournaments are in-house events built to bridge the gap between training and US Squash competition. Players are guaranteed multiple matches across the day, competing in a structured but supportive environment where the focus is on development, decision-making, and learning how to win points without the added pressure of rankings.
Premier Division
The top division featured a high-quality girls’ draw, with Siya emerging as the notional winner after a composed day of play. Charlotte pushed her all the way to finish second, with both players showing excellent control and maturity throughout. Coach Michael stepped into the draw to ensure strong match standards and meaningful work across the board, doing exactly what was needed to keep the level high. Behind them, Neil, Matteo, Sarah, Jessie, and Avi all produced strong performances and continued their progression. A deep and competitive division.
Division 1
Dennis took the title in Division 1, navigating through the draw with confidence and finishing with a well-earned win over Tara in the final. A notable run, particularly given the competitive nature of the field. Well done also to Charan and Tara, who secured third and fourth place respectively after a series of solid matches. Another division full of good repetitions and growing match awareness.
Division 2
Division 2 showcased many of the program’s rising players, including several competing in their first-ever tournament setting. Scott edged out Mark in a well-fought final, but the real story here was participation and progression. For many, this was about learning the rhythms of competition, scoring, and handling match situations for the first time. A strong step forward for the group.
A sincere thank you to Coach Claire, our tournament director, for delivering a smooth and well-run day. Appreciation also to Coach Michael for his energy across the courts, keeping players engaged, active, and ready to compete.
It was also excellent to see players traveling in from throughout New Jersey, New York, Philadelphia, and beyond to be part of the day. That commitment continues to raise the standard of these events.
The Rehearsal Tournament series remains a central part of what we do. It gives players the chance to test themselves in a competitive setting, build confidence, and develop the habits required for long-term success.
Stay tuned for our next event in May.
