NJ Squash Tigers Update: Competitions, Coaching, and What’s Next!

Hi Tigers Family,

A big well done to everyone on what has been a hectic month of competition. It’s been a busy stretch from Nationals through to the recent Gold events, and the group handled it really well. Plenty of good effort and some clear progress across the board. If you missed the highlights, you can catch up on Nationals in our recent posts.

Coach Mazen has now left to represent Lithuania at the European Team Championships. We’re all behind him and will share updates on the story. While he’s away, Coach Paul along with Coaches Claire and Michael have opened up extra lesson availability so players can keep things consistent. Just reply to this email if you’d like help booking.

We’ll have limited Zoom coaching available over the next two weeks for players competing in upcoming Silver events. If you haven’t already set this up, reach out to your coach soon and we’ll get it organized.

This Saturday (11th), we’re running another Rehearsal Tournament at the club. These are always a good step for players to get matches in without the pressure of rankings. You can enter email.

For newer players, and for any families with friends thinking about trying squash, we have launched our Cubs program. Sessions run Tuesday and Thursday evenings, plus Saturdays. It’s built to take players from their first introduction through to being ready for squads and competition. The structure comes from the same model used in Egypt to build strong foundations early on. If someone comes to mind, this is a great place to start.

We’re also offering a summer trip for a small group of players. For the first time, we’ll head to Egypt to train at Wadi Degla Club, followed by competition at the European Junior Open in Germany. Coach Mazen will lead the trip. If you’d like more information, feel free to reach out to him directly.

We’re now about 70 days out from the Super JCT, this year in Connecticut. Four-day draws, 64-player fields, and real opportunity across the board. Prep starts now, especially with spring break behind us. The next stretch matters.

Looking ahead, regular programming will continue through the Super JCT in June. Summer camps begin Monday, June 22 and will run for 11 weeks. We’ll have half-day and full-day options from Monday to Thursday, with lessons available across the week. We’re also planning to bring in college coaches and professional players during the summer, with more details to come.

As always, if you have any questions or want help planning the right next step, just reply to this email.

See you on court,

The Squash Tigers Team
