April 1st Update!

Hi, all.

April 1st is always a fun day for the coaches here at Squash Tigers… if you didn’t catch our April Fools Day Reel, you’ll find it here on Insta.  Not a bad thing to practice on “super high tins”, but not intending to make it a permanent addition… promise!

This weekend we have our April Rehearsal Tournament - kickoff 9:30 and entries to Coach Claire!  A reminder that to accommodate the event there is NO MORNING TRAINING - only Performance at 2:00pm and Squad at 3:00pm.  For our less experienced players Rehearsal Tournaments offer great exposure to match conditions, both playing and refereeing, in a comforting environment.  For the more experienced, it’s a morning of compressed match-play and an opportunity to play our Head Pro Michael - not often you get to play (or watch) a full match with a 7.0 rated player!

A break to decompress is never a bad thing, but a reminder that Spring is frequently a time to either catch up to our rivals, or go further ahead.  There are ten Golds between now and summer, with another ten silvers and even more bronze tournaments within driving distance of the club.  This spring, for the first time ever, culminates with the first ever June “Super JCT” in Philly.  Training runs to our usual schedule until June 1 and there’s a ton of opportunity to move to the next level technically, tactically and physically between now and the end of the school year.  If you’d like any guidance, reply to this email and we can arrange to either sit down and meet or maybe jump on a call.

Weekly points

  • Congratulations to Arman, Winner of the BU19 SquashWest Gold this past weekend!  He had several monumental victories, including defeating the recently crowned Silver Nationals Champ in a semi and a player rated 0.2 ahead of him in the final - FROM 2/0 DOWN!  Congratulations to Arman, one of our hardest workers so far this spring!

  • Rehearsal Tournament this Saturday - entries with Coach Claire

  • Our Summer Camp Information is now available including a variety of “full summer” options.  Our normal training schedule runs until June 1, followed by two weeks of our “Pre-Summer” training and our renowned Summer Camps kicking off subsequently

  • Our Learn-to-play Package continues to be a popular and inexpensive way to bring new families into the sport.  Spring is a great time to learn, so please pass the details to those who may be looking for that first step.

  • Finally, it’s a great time to plan, drop me or one of the other coaches an email if you’d like to sit down for a planning chat!

See you at training!
