The simple answer to the question “How often should players train”? Is “it depends upon their goals!
Training 1-2 times a week a player can MAINTAIN a level and improve slowly
Training 3-4 times a week and players will see IMPROVEMENT over time
Training 5-6 times a week and players will enjoy a RAPID IMPROVEMENT in their game
Three things of which to be aware!
ATTENDANCE is the most important characteristic, you don’t get better at anything by not doing it!
Bringing INTENSITY to training speeds up improvement, players need to give what resources they have to a squad!
A PLAN is crucial - a series of “one off” sessions is not the same as a planned curriculum, and it goes without saying that planning one of the key features of ST
Finally, competition is key to improvement. We recommend an event every four to six weeks, that gives enough time to train between events and the very real likelihood that we see noticeable improvement in performances each time we compete!
