West Coast JCT - Tiger Preview

Redwood City, California is home to the 3rd JCT of the season. As is the monthly convention, this coming Friday the best and brightest of each age group bound into action in pursuit of points, competition and excellence. 16 Squash Tigers members and three coaches will make the trek across the country, three of the kids competing in their first ever JCT!

The October JCT, conducted in the hallowed courts of UPenn, was a tremendous success for our players. A reread of the breakdown is just an awesome way to get “in the mood” for the West Coast event and we can only hope to go one stage better.

The U/11’s will see Evan and Yiden as our two representatives. Yiden has done well this season and is a top 8 seed for the first time. Evan is in his first JCT and is in great form coming off his 3rd place in last weekends Philly Gold! Our U/13’s are Eric, Meredith, Mimi and Chloe. Chloe will be in her first JCT and, like Evan, in great form coming off a 3rd place in last weekends Gold.

The U/15’s have perennial top performance JJ, having a very solid season making the quarters of each of the first two JCT's. Following Eric's aging up, this time he accompanied in the draw by by Jonathan in his first JCT.

The U/17’s will generate a tremendous amount of interest, with Colton, Parth, Alex, Claire, Lily and Isabella (don’t call me Bella) all in action. Colton and Parth were 4 and 5 respectively in the PA JCT last month - Isabella and Claire were 2 and 5 respectively, so hopes are high for some silverware. Reghan, winner of the first two JCT's is sitting this one out to study, so that creates an opportunity for others! Additionally, without wishing anyone ill, we may see Arman and Angela both make the cut, as with one day left they are both left as #1 reserve. Fingers crossed for them both!

Finally, we have have one representative in the GU19, Maryam, our notional “girls captain”, who is setting a wonderful example as a senior, training hard and being attentive to her game.

Good luck to everyone! You can track their progress via our Insta and the US Squash updates, and of course we’ll have a breakdown post event on our Squash Tigers Blog!
