Exton’s First Rehearsal Tournament – Reportage!

This past weekend marked an important milestone: the first-ever Rehearsal Tournament at our Exton facility, held alongside a PSA professional event. With high class squash on the top courts, our players matched the atmosphere with competitive matches, good sportsmanship, and plenty of Squash Tigers spirit.

What Are Rehearsal Tournaments?

“In-house events at Squash Tigers, designed to sharpen skills and prepare players for the rigors of US Squash events. Each tournament guarantees multiple matches in a relaxed but competitive atmosphere, free from rating and ranking pressure—an ideal way for players to practice, rehearse, and improve.”

Division Highlights

In Division 1, Coach Laurent held his position at the top, working through a strong draw to defeat Vikram in the final. The matches were close throughout, with every contest not involving a coach going to extra games. Coach Bob stepped in as needed to cover player withdrawals or injuries, while Laurent balanced his own matches with refereeing duties for the PSA event. Arin recovered from a tough start to secure the consolation win, showing good resolve in his later matches.

Division 2 saw Zushmalene take the crown in a round robin format. Her narrow victory over William proved decisive, with both players pushing each other point for point. William earned second place with consistent play, while Alex and Asha picked up games of their own and set goals to improve their standing in the next rehearsal.

In Division 3, Aelene went undefeated to secure first place, but not without a test from Sara in a three-game match that was one of the highlights of the day. Sara responded strongly and collected three wins of her own. Avi’s steady improvement was evident in his hard-fought win over Riyanshi, and Vir, competing in his first event, gained valuable experience and showed determination in each outing, including a spirited match against Coach Bob.

Special Notes

The day also had lighter moments. Coach Bob’s dog, Franny, joined the event and quickly became a favorite among players and families, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. With the Junior Championship Tour (JCT) taking place next weekend, our elite players leave this rehearsal with timely match preparation as they head into one of the biggest events of the junior season.

Looking Ahead

Two exciting events are just around the corner. On September 2nd, our Exton facility will host a special evening with Harvard Coach Mike Way, giving our community a unique opportunity to learn from one of the most respected coaches in the sport.

Then, on September 13th, the next Rehearsal Tournament will take place at our New Jersey Squash Tigers location, continuing the series and offering players another chance for match play, learning, and progress.

Closing Thoughts

Thank you to all players for competing with effort, to the parents for their support, and to the coaches for keeping the day running smoothly. Launching the Exton Rehearsal Tournament tradition alongside a PSA event was a memorable start, bringing together high-quality squash and the community that defines Squash Tigers.

Catch more highlights, photos, and clips from the day on our Instagram and social channels—and stay tuned for updates as we head into the JCT and our upcoming events.

We look forward to seeing everyone back on court soon. 🐅
